New maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipsticks
These new Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte lipsticks are amazing. They don’t dry up like most matte lipsticks, they are super affordable, and they are here to stay. $5.49 each at Target. Probably a few dollars more at Walgreens.
I picked one of these up about two weeks ago in the shade Touch Of Spice. I really loved the finish and now they are no where to be found. I randomly found 2 more today but they weren’t the ones I was really searching for. I’m on the hunt for a few others. Lesson learned.
Touch Of Spice.
I read that these will be part of their permanent line so if you can’t find them now… Don’t you worry, they aren’t limited edition. These mattes are truly like no other, they are creamy, they don’t dry up your lips and they glide right on. The color payoff is is just beyond me, there’s a little transfer when eating but for the most part, they stay put unless you wipe hard with a napkin. I’m very impressed with this line. If you find them at Target or Walgreens look for Touch of Spice. It’s my fave!

Trending Tuesday September 9, 2014
Welcome Back! Tuesday’s always feel like a second Monday to me, does anyone else feel this way? It’s hard to get into the groove. (Insert Madonna Song here) Now that I have been posting Trending Tuesday here on the blog, I feel like I have something to look forward to on Tuesday’s. Hope you guys do too! Before I get started I wanted to let you guys know that there is now a comments section here on the blog. Many have privately messaged me to ask where they could comment or ask questions and Voilá! There is now a section on the blog for that. The Section will be to your left side when facing the screen on your desktop. “Ask” is to privately ask me a question and “ Submit” gets posted on the actual page. Ok, enough about that… Lets get started.
When we think sweatshirts or sweat pants, we think of lounging around, hair in a topknot, no makeup and walking around barefoot, at least that’s the vision that comes to mind when I think of sweats. I think it’s time I take those visions out of my head because sweatpants and sweatshirts seem to be making a comeback. I’ve noticed lately that many magazines
and fashion websites are advertising a sweatshirt, jeans and high heels or sweats with a nice skirt and some boots. The pairing possibilities are endless. Below I have a few examples to show you how cute you can turn a simple Nike sweatshirt into something high fashion.
· Slip On Shoes
Six years ago I bought a pair of all black Vans. When I purchased them I thought they were so practical. They slipped on, they were all black, they went with everything and they were pretty comfortable. This poor shoe went from being my favorite to getting ignored because winter hit shortly after I purchased them and then… they were that shoe I forgot I even had, yep, I’m one of those, sometimes I forget what I have. (Insert #blessed here. Ha! That was for my cousin… We hate that hashtag.) Anyway, recently I have seen so many people wearing them and I’ve seen them on just about every shopping website being promoted. I even dusted mine off and I’ve worn them with leggings or high waisted shorts.
· Bite Beauty
You know I have to mention at least one beauty product for Trending Tuesday. Its my favorite part. Bite Beauty has been trending pretty heavy
on Instagram and Youtube. I’m eager to try a few of their products, they are currently on my wish list. I thought I would give this company a little Candidly love because they are all natural and pretty much edible too. If you think about it, when we eat or drink we are ingesting our lipstick. Read more about them here and check out all of the amazing products they have to offer.
· Dark Lips
Since I just finished talking about lip products, I think its safe to say that dark lipstick season is here. Yay!!!! I love a dark lip. Some of my close friends have said they just cant do it, they feel its too vampy and goth. Don’t be afraid, I was so stuck on natural/neutral shades for my lips for years and last year I took a leap and started to venture out into the dark side. Now… I love it! Yes I just said last year… It took me that long. Here are some of my favorites:
There is no denying that I love technology, I think I get this from my dad he would always have all the latest technology in the house. My sister and I till this day swear we were like the 1st to have a Nintendo. Ha!
Everyone thought they were the 1st. Anyway, today APPLE announced that a new iPhone will be released on September 19, 2014. Just in case you haven’t read up on the deets, there will be two versions the iphone 6 and the iphone 6 plus. The 6 plus is noticeably longer in size and has a much bigger screen. I’m up for an upgrade soon and I look forward to purchasing one. My husband is very avid at keeping up with technology because he says, “You don’t want to get old and not know what’s going on.” He makes me laugh but its true, he said he wants us to know what our kids are up to when we decide to have some. Ha!
· Urban Outfitters Beauty Section Over the weekend my husband and I went to this coffee event and while we were in this super cute hipster area here in Chicago, we stopped into Urban Outfitters. If you guys didn’t know this they have a beauty section! I know they sell beauty products online but I wasn’t aware they had them in store too. I was like a child in a candy store. I was really excited to see the display and I bought two things while I was at it. Ha!
Ok, beauties, its time for me to end this Trending Tuesday; have a great rest of the week!
I’m loving your blog! Keep the recommendations coming!
Trending Tuesday on a Thursday.
Happy September!!! Sorry it’s more of a trending Thursday today. I wanted to get this up on Tuesday but literally had so much going on.
Let’s take a moment and say goodbye to summer. Many don’t want to come to terms with the fact that fall is just around the corner… I hate to break it to you, it’s like two weeks away and I’m super excited. Although I love everything about summer, there’s something about fall that just has my heart. I don’t know if it’s the changing of the leaves, the fashion or the food but everything during the fall season is perfection to me. Let’s get started…
As soon as the weather starts to shift a little I become a little pyro and I light up every candle I can find in my condo. I become candltized. (I made that word up) Ha! Bath and Body has all sorts of yummy scented candles and I’m a sucker for them. My favorite scent for fall is Sweater Weather. Let me know which candles you guy’s love in my new comments section. I would love to know.
Chilly nights are in our future. Sometimes when I’m having an ugly day. (We all have them) I throw on a jacket and scarf and so long ugly day. It’s something about a cute jacket that can change up your outfit and your attitude. Military style Jackets are pretty in trend. You can add some patches or buttons on it and personalize it to your style. The denim jacket below is from GAP. Denim Jackets are a staple in my wardrobe they literally go with everything. The Leather bomber to the bottom right is from H&M. I’m actually in the market for a new one since I kind of wore mine to the threads. Leather bombers are so fashionable. You can go from badass to chic in seconds. The members only type jacket reminds me so much of my dad, he had one when I was growing up in the 80’s and I think they are making a come back… Kim Kardashian West was recently sporting a green one in an Instagram photo
Plaid is making a comeback
Who would have thought plaid would be making a come back. I have pictures from when I was a kid rocking plaid. I’ll give that credit to my parents. Ha! I try to stay on top of things when it comes to fashion week and I keep a close eye on trends that I see in magazines as well. Lately in every magazine I pick up there is some form of plaid, whether it be a skirt, a top or even shoes that have some sort of plaid, it’s a sign… Go get yourself some plaid! Here are a few cute items I found that wont steer you from being afraid of rocking plaid without moms help. Ha!
I’m not talking about sweaters and tank tops here. Layering jewelry seems to be everything right now. We all know about arm candy and how it adds the perfect touch to any look. Lately I’ve been layering my Alex and Ani bracelets as well as some midi rings that I recently bought. Although layering bracelets and rings make me look like a young Mr. T, I did see that delicate dainty necklaces have been added to the list. When it comes to jewelry I’ve got no fear. Sometimes you just need to get out of your comfort zone. Try it.
I am deeply saddened by the news of Joan Rivers. Three years ago I started to watch Fashion Police and I grew a love for her. She was witty, had a sharp tongue and said things that no one else could probably get away with. She actually set a great path for woman. I look up to her and always will because not many people can keep life raw and real. Many feel the need to sugar coat things, lie or ignore the present time. Joan, I never knew you personally but you will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her daughter, grandson and family.
I love love love this blog! This is officially my new go to place for recommendations on what products to try! I appreciate all the tips & tricks! :)
Love everything about this blog, great job on keeping us in the “know” of what’s hot and not in the world of beauty :D Looking forward to reading more! xo.
Just stopping by to leave you a nice compliment. I love your blog. You’re doing a great job.
July/August Favorites 2014
Wow! Where did this summer go? It feels like I was just welcoming it with open arms after Chicago had the worst winter ever. Now, I’m sitting here sipping on a Pumpkin Spice Latte and thinking about all the cool things I love about fall.
July passed me up pretty fast. I had some travel back-to-back and then by the time I blinked, it was August so I’m incorporating some of my faves from July in this post because I want to keep my favorites consistent. July was an awesome month because not only did I take an awesome vacation with my husband to the Dominican Republic, but I was also able to take some time and visit my sister and family in Florida. Just a little side note, Florida is my second home. It’s my happy place! Lets get started!
Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Face Lotion with SPF 30
I bought this before leaving to Punta Cana and boy did it come in handy. I like to moisturize on the regular and since Punta is so close to the equator , the sun is blazing and I wanted extra protection for my face. The last thing I wanted was to come home looking like a lobster. I hate the way sunscreen feels on my face, it’s always so greasy and leaves an oil residue. This Sunscreen is specifically for your face. It absorbs quickly, it doesn’t leave a greasy/oily residue and its long wearing. I had a bit of a tingling sensation after applying it, not sure if that was normal, but it did the job! For those of you who live in hot climates, I would totally recommend this. It’s even ok to pass through security for travel.
Benefit They’re Real Push up liner
Let me take a second and bow to this amazing liner. I honestly suck at applying liner; I always feel like one eye looks nicer than the other and that bothers me. This liner has worked miracles. It takes some time to get used to, but its totally fool proof. Its long wearing and the pigment is dark. If you feel you are looking for a good liner that is easy to apply, look no further and try this baby out.
Anastasia Amrezy Palette
After buying my 1st Anastasia Palette last winter I’m truly a fan. I feel like these palettes always have beautiful shades, minimal fall out, great pigmentation and the number one plus, they are super affordable. I’ve got to admit, I’m a sucker for eye shadow. This palette caught my eyes when I saw all the fall looking colors. I used it while on vacation and was very pleased with it. This palette runs for $29 and can be found at Sephora and Ulta.
Alex and Ani Bracelets
While visiting my sister in Florida we took a trip to DisneyWorld and while we were there we found some Alex and Ani bracelets. I bought two, and I love them! To read more about these bracelets click here and read all about the true meaning behind them; they are designed to utilize the power of positive energy.
Mizani True Textures Mositure Stretch
July and August are months that entail lots of humidity. Before I cut my hair I turned to my very favorite curly hair product, Mizani True Textures Moisture Stretch. Mixani has an array of hair care products that favor more curly hair gals like myself. These products can now be found at Ulta and I’ve seen them in selected Sally’s Beauty Supply stores. To get the full potential out of this product, I wash my hair, towel dry it, brush it out and apply this product to my hair and style. This product was a true life saver this summer.
Lorac Pro 2 Palette
Lorac Cosmetics released a Pro 2 palette and I don’t know what came over me, but I went back and forth throwing it in my basket at Ulta and then reaching the check out and leaving it. I even did it with online shopping. I would throw it in my shopping cart and then opt out when it was time to check out. I think I owe it to several YouTube beauty channels for showing several different looks that made me think “ If I’m still thinking about it on Friday, I’ll go get it” Well… Friday came and I was still thinking about it so I went and bought it. Although I had a hard time bringing myself to purchase it, I’m glad its sitting peacefully with the Pro. Ha! If there’s a palette you cant go wrong with, it’s the Pro palette. This palette has a top row of shimmer and bottom row of matte. Can’t go wrong there!
If you have been following my latest posts lately you already know I’m obsessed with nail wraps. I recently added them into TrendingTuesday because these things are a lifesaver. Sometimes in the evening the last thing I want to do when I get home is polish my nails, let alone wait for them to dry. Several different companies like NCLA, Jamberry, and Sally Hansen have tons of designs to suit your mood/style.
Mac Prep and Prime
I ran out of my primer in August and totally forgot I had this. Sometimes I feel I neglect my MAC products and then when I go back to using them I fall in love all over again. I have pretty normal skin, so I don’t really have to worry about breakouts and my face getting oily. This primer isn’t heavy its supposed to actually calm and soothe the skin as well as blotting away any excess oil and reducing any redness. Its formulated with special effect silicones and it makes applying foundation and powder effortless. With that being said… I’m almost done with mine.
I cant really think of anything I was totally loving when it comes to snacks, but what I can tell you is that Starbucks has a drink I was totally digging all summer long and it’s the Black Tea Lemonade. I get mine with 3 pumps sweetened. 6 pumps is too sweet for me. Yum!
Homeland on Showtime
Many may say they can’t get past Claire Danes and her ugly cry but I don’t mind it one bit. This show is amazing! I binge watched all three seasons and I’m really looking forward to October. If you haven’t watched yet… GO! What are you waiting for? This show is so intense and scary at the same time because it makes you think about our current time and things we really aren’t aware of that go on in the world. Example: Terrorists, the law, politics, and how safe we really are from harm.
Ok, guys! There it is! July and August Favorites. Hope you guys enjoyed it! Goodbye Summer… Hello Autumn! Cheers to an amazing rest of the year!

Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall!
Is this really the last Tuesday of the month? This year is just flying right by. I can’t believe that we are literally just two months away from Thanksgiving and four months away from Christmas. Sorry, I had to go there, it’s the inevitable. There’s no hiding it. I went to Target this past weekend and when I was leaving I couldn’t help but to notice the sign that said “starting in August we will be open on Saturday’s till midnight.” Ok, enough of the holidays, I’ll save that post for November. Lets get started with what’s trending this week.
- Lorac Mega Pro- Yesterday on Instagram, I logged on and thought I was being punked. I saw the picture below and I literally gasped. I’m not quite sure who should get the credit for leaking this picture but thank you! I saw the picture below all over and its true; this palette is being released in November, not sure what the price range will be or if it will be limited edition but keep your eyes peeled its beautiful and its going to be a hot commodity. If you own a Lorac Pro 1 or a Pro 2, its like a 2 in 1. So Excited!!!!!
- Mom Jeans- Yep! I said it, MOM JEANS! Last summer, high waisted jean shorts were all the rage. When I first saw this hot trend I thought I would look so ridiculous in them till I walked into the local Goodwill, bought myself a pair of men’s Wrangler jeans, cut them up and voila! 3-dollar high wasted shorts in my closet. I know mom jeans and boyfriend jeans sound hideous because lets face it, we want to wear clothing that shows off our shape but honestly these baggy looking jeans are looking more and more cute. You can style these jeans with a nice top and heels or you can throw on a pair of sneakers and tone it down a notch with a sweater. What’s nice about these, is yes, it’s a trend and I love that you can go to a thrift shop and make them on your own just like I did with the shorts. Here are a few examples of some fly looking mom jeans. I’m an 80’s baby of course I’m going to rock the jeans my mom wore. Ha!
- Virtual Pug Run 5k/10k/1 miler - I recently signed up on the mailing list for a website by the name of Windy City Bloggers. I received an email and the 1st thing that stood out to me was the Virtual Pug Run. For those of you that are new to my blog and following me on social media, five years ago my husband bought me a dog and he is a puggle. Marty,my dog, is half pug and I think they are the cutest most loving dogs. I didn’t quite know what a virtual run was until I checked out the website and basically you run/walk the distance that you sign up for on your own, show proof that you ran/walked it and you get a medal with a unicorn pug on it. 100% of proceeds go to pug rescue. Head over to the Frugal Beautiful blog at http://frugalbeautiful.com/blog/ and support Shannyn and this great cause. For $27 you can save a pup. I’ll be signing up this week.
(Here’s my dog, Marty)
- Pumpkin Everything- Fall is in the air and summer is almost gone, this morning when picking up my afternoon tea at Starbucks I’m happy to announce that the Pumpkin Spice Latte is back at Starbucks and its back early. So far that’s the only fall drink that they are brewing and crafting up but I’m sure it won’t be long till they announce all your favorite fall drinks. I got excited and took a pic for you guys today to spread the word. Enjoy!
One of my guilty pleasures is watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette this week there has been much speculation that Farmer boy Chris Soules is set to be the new bachelor, and its true! I can’t wait to watch. I think I was more broken hearted to see him go than Andi was. Ha! Go Chris! I hope he finds love.
Before I end this post I just want to wish you guys a very safe and relaxing Labor day. I hope your summer was just as wonderful as mine was. Cheers to Fall!
